Elementary at EFIB (ages 6 to 11)

There are five elementary grades:

  • Preparatory class (CP),
  • Grade 1 (CE1),
  • Second year of elementary school (CE2),
  • Cours moyen première année (CM1),
  • Cours moyen deuxième année (CM2).

The courses are divided into three-year cycles:

  • Cycle 2 (fundamental learning cycle) comprises CP, CE1 and CE2. This cycle teaches basic skills (reading, writing, counting and respecting others).
  • Cycle 3 (consolidation cycle) includes CM1 and CM2. This cycle continues in collège, in the sixième class. This cycle stabilizes and reinforces the learning begun in Cycle 2.

Class projects are numerous and varied, with visits, cultural outings and shows organized by the teaching team to enrich educational projects.
The school curricula are those of the French Ministry of Education.

Regular attendance at elementary school is compulsory under current French regulations.

EFIB offers an ambitious language policy that sets it apart from other schools: a student who has completed his/her schooling from nursery section to 3rd grade will benefit from 701 hours of German and 605 hours of English during his/her schooling. more than a student educated in the Swiss system.

You can find the Cycle 2 elementary school programs on the official EDUSCOL website.

You'll find the Cycle 3 elementary school programs on the official EDUSCOL website.
