School Life Coordinator


The French International School of Bern is seeking a Head of Student Affairs for its middle school. Reporting directly to the school principal, the successful candidate will help ensure the smooth running of school life,
assist with the educational support of students, and help maintain a calm and caring school environment.

– Contract: to be determined / hours per week: to be determined
– Start date: August 24, 2026
– Location: EFIB Bern

Mission

Student guidance and support

  • Provide care, supervision, and oversight for students during school hours and after-school activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations and the guidelines for community living.
  • Support students as they develop independence, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to get along with others.
  • Handle conflicts, incidents, or emergencies with sound judgment and a quick response.
  • Provide a supportive educational presence for adolescents.

Administrative Management of School Life

  • Track absences, tardiness, and excused absences on a daily basis.
  • Check and update data in school management software.
  • Communicate with families as needed regarding absences, tardiness, or incidents.
  • Help organize exams, field trips, and school events.
  • Help update class schedules and information related to school life.

Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with the administration team, teachers, and families.
  • Attend student progress meetings as needed.
  • Share relevant information with the various stakeholders in the educational community.
  • Help maintain a positive and safe school environment.

Profile

  • Experience in education, schools, or youth mentoring is preferred.
  • Knowledge of how a school operates is a plus.
  • A strong interest in educational work with adolescents.
  • Given the proposed work schedule, this position is intended for individuals already residing in Switzerland who wish to supplement their current employment. It is not suitable for those planning to move to Switzerland solely for the purpose of taking this job.

Bilingual French/German Technology Teacher

 

EFIB is seeking a bilingual (French/German) technology teacher for its middle school, starting September 1, 2026.

At an international school on a human scale, the successful candidate will help teach technology to students in Cycle 4 and support them in developing their scientific, technical, and digital skills.

– Contract: 4.5 hours per week
– Start date: September 1, 2026
– Location: French International School of Bern (EFIB)

Responsibilities 

The teacher is responsible for teaching technology to middle school students (7th, 8th, and 9th grades), in accordance with the current curriculum.

In this capacity, he/she:

  • Designs and leads instructional activities tailored to the students' level;
  • Uses an active and hands-on teaching approach;
  • Assists students with hands-on activities and technical projects;
  • Develops skills related to problem-solving, creativity, and innovation;
  • Monitors and evaluates students;
  • Ensures that safety rules are followed during hands-on activities;
  • Participates in the school’s educational activities.

The courses cover, among other things:

  • the design and production of technical objects;
  • analysis of how technical systems operate;
  • modeling and simulation;
  • materials and their properties;
  • energy and energy transitions;
  • computer science and programming;
  • connected devices;
  • sustainable development and eco-design;
  • a culture of innovation and design.

Profile 

  • A solid background in technology, computer science, engineering, or related fields;
  • Interest in project-based learning and interdisciplinary approaches;
  • Proficiency in using digital tools;
  • Ability to teach middle school students in a bilingual French/German setting;
  • Organizational skills, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.

Experience in teaching, educational facilitation, or supervising practical work is preferred.

EFIB is looking for elementary school teachers for short-term substitute teaching assignments

Qualifications:
– Teaching degree and/or teaching experience (preferably in the French school system)
– Very good command of French (German is a plus)
– Flexibility and motivation to support children
– Must hold a Swiss work permit
– Must reside in Switzerland (ideally within an hour of Bern)
