Founded in 1962, the École Française Internationale de Berne (EFIB) supports students from preschool through middle school in an international and supportive environment, within a close-knit educational community.
Accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and affiliated with the AEFE, the school is also authorized by the Department of Public Education (DIP) of the Canton of Bern. It offers a structured educational program that fosters the academic, linguistic, and personal development of each student.
EFIB is a nonprofit organization supported by the French Embassy and managed by a committee of volunteer parents who are committed to providing a high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive education.
A learning path tailored to your child
From preschool through middle school, we teach the French national curriculum in a multilingual and supportive environment.
Bilingual kindergarten
A program taught in French and German in a supportive environment for children ages 3 to 6.
Elementary
Personalized support for children ages 6 to 11 to help them confidently develop independence.
College
Foster curiosity and academic success among students aged 11 to 15 through the National Brevet Exam.
Non-French-speaking students
French language instruction with structured support, regardless of the student’s level of French.

An event dedicated to the planet at EFIB – Tuesday, May 20
On Tuesday, May 20, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the students of EFIB invite you to attend an event designed by and for young people, focusing on climate issues and international solidarity.
First graders are learning about career guidance step by step
For the past few weeks, first-grade students have been learning about directions through a step-by-step, fun project.
School ski trips: a great learning experience!
Every Friday afternoon, our students strap on their skis and head out to explore the slopes around Bern as part of the APE program. ⛷️🏔️
