Mealtime should be an important moment for each student to eat, relax and share a moment of conviviality with his or her classmates. It is also an opportunity to learn about education and respect for food and equipment.
The EFIB school cafeteria serves lunch every day and is open to all students, from preschool through middle school.
Meal preparation
The meals we provide for our students are prepared by an outside vendor (ZFV) and delivered to our school every day shortly before noon to ensure the food’s essential freshness and proper storage , thereby guaranteeing that the food remains in pristine condition from the kitchen to the student’s plate.
Healthy, varied and seasonal meals
The International French School of Berne has chosen to offer its students healthy and varied menus to meet their daily dietary requirements.
We also make it a point of honour to prepare seasonal meals using organic and/or Swiss food.
Special diets and food allergies
Students are offered two types of menu each day: "classic" and vegetarian.
We dedicate one day of the week to a 100% vegetarian meal.
Before registering for the school cafeteria, you will be asked to fill out the “Health” section on Eduka to let us know about any food allergies your child has, as well as any specific dietary requirements (no pork, vegetarian, etc.), so that our staff can be aware of them in advance.
In the event of a severe allergy (e.g. to gluten), the school is unable to provide a meal. Families are responsible for providing a meal for their child, within the framework of a protocol validated by a doctor.
My child takes part in an extra-curricular activity at lunchtime
If your child is involved in an extra-curricular activity (A.P.E.) during lunchtime, he or she will not be able to benefit from the school catering service.
In the event of an oversight, parents will be charged for the lunch provided by the school restaurant on the day of the oversight.
